Artist statement
My work begins with Ebru, the Turkish art of marbling on water. I guide floating color and transfer each impression to textile.
The process brings intention into contact with movement that cannot be fully controlled. I explore how these encounters leave traces and how a material can carry those traces into a new form.
In suspended work, folds, transparency, and light extend the image into space. Silk connects the image to the body through its softness, sensitivity, and movement. I am interested in the point where a flat image becomes an environment: where viewers must move, look through layers, and notice how the work changes with light and distance.
In When the Water Left, I explore the connection between trees, water, wood, and silk, alongside the personal spiritual meaning of green silk.
