Zeynep Guvenc is a Turkish-born contemporary textile and installation artist based in Cary, North Carolina. Her practice is rooted in Ebru, the Turkish art of marbling on water, and extends into suspended silk, layered textile surfaces, and sculptural wall works.

Through folds, transparency, and gravity, she explores how an impression made on water changes when it enters three-dimensional space. Her work considers the relationship between intention and chance, and the traces that materials carry through change.

Her artwork has been presented through the Town of Cary’s BIG PICTURES: Museum Without Walls. Her hand-marbled silk scarves have been carried by the North Carolina Museum of Art Museum Shop.

She has taught marbling through Duke Arts Annex, the NC State University Crafts Center, Cary Arts Center, and Pullen Arts Center. She holds an M.A. in History from Istanbul University and is a member of the Textile Society of America.
